On 17 May 2023, the 16th Azerbaijan International Agricultural Exhibition "Caspian Agro" and the 28th Azerbaijan International Food Industry Exhibition "InterFood Azerbaijan" officially opened in Baku Expo Center. Speaking during the inauguration ceremony were Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov, Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) Board Chairman Orkhan Mammadov, acting Minister of Agriculture of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Khayala Dadashova, and General Director of Caspian Event Organisers Farid Mammadov.
During his speech, Majnun Mammadov, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, welcomed the event participants and said:
This exhibition is held in the special year, when the entire Azerbaijani nation is celebrating the 100th jubilee of Heydar Aliyev, the great leader and founder of the modern Azerbaijani state. The exhibition we are opening here today is dedicated to this memorable date as well.
Applied in the agricultural sector, innovative solutions greatly improve productivity and allow to efficiently use land and water resources, cut down the cost price of produce, and increase farmers' revenues. It is therefore no surprise that Caspian Agro, arguably the region's largest international event in the sector, causes a big interest this year. We are hopeful that it will help those active in the agricultural sector get to know new machinery and technologies, share experience, and establish mutually beneficial business connections. It is reassuring that 71% of the event participants are foreign companies.
The exhibition launched today would enable agricultural producers to see these innovations with their own eyes. It is these innovations that push the number of overseas participants up year after year.
I am positive that Caspian Agro-2023 will be remembered not only by presentations of numerous agricultural novelties but also by an extending cooperation and new partner relations between local companies and their foreign counterparts.
Giving a welcome speech, Goshgar Tahmazli, Chairman of the Food Safety Agency of The Republic of Azerbaijan, said:
I believe the demonstration of products and services as part of this international event attended by those active in all phases of the food production and consumption chain does greatly promote the establishment and extension of business links.
Further on, the floor was given to Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board at the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA), who said:
Traditionally held every year, food and agriculture exhibitions draw a lot of attention from entrepreneurs.
Khayala Dadashova, acting Minister of Agriculture of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, said:
This is the very first time the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is participating in this exhibition; we are so proud of our participation and glad that we can share this moment with you here.
Farid Mammadov, General Director of Caspian Event Organisers, welcomed the exhibition participants and wished them luck in their endeavors. Besides, he provided some statistics in respect of the event and thanked its sponsors and partners.

For the first time at this year's exhibitions, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic represented by a single stand.
The year 2023 marks the 100th jubilee of National Leader, founder of the independent Azerbaijani state and prominent politician and statesman Heydar Aliyev. By his decree, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev declared this year to be marked the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" in our country. This momentous occasion reflected in the programs of both the exhibitions.
The largest international exhibition in the field, Caspian Agro is representing such sectors as: agricultural vehicles, agricultural facilities and equipment, irrigation systems, packaging, innovative technology in agriculture, animal and poultry husbandry, greenhouses, animal feed, veterinary, crop growing, fertilizers, horticulture, cotton processing and electronic agriculture.
The three-day event will see the discussions of agriculture-related innovative technology. Becoming increasingly relevant lately, the "green agriculture" is among core dimensions this year and is reflected in the exhibition logo, which now bears the word "Green". This topic has also been included in the agenda of the "Agrarian Innovations Forum" that will be held as part of the main event.
